Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We first met Greg and Julia to create a financial plan eight years ago. Since then - our plans have evolved from financial planning to pre-retirement planning to post retirement living and, most recently, estate and trust planning. Throughout the years they have been professional, approachable, and pleasant to deal with whether we were meeting with them in person or simply calling with a question. We appreciate their guidance and whole-heartily recommend the entire DuPont Team!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had my estate planning setup with DuPont Law Group and had a wonderful experience! It started with Mimi who answered my initial call for scheduling my first appointment gave me such a good impression as she was so sweet, friendly, and very easy to talk to. Then I met up with attorney Alayna and notary Jillian assigned to me where they went through the process and explained with details, answered all my questions patiently, super friendly, and made the whole journey very easy and personable.

Before this journey, I used to think getting estate planning done will take a long time and difficult, but It only took two meetings (can be done via zoom too till the final signature in person) and several forms to fill out to setup the entire estate planning to ensure my family are taken care of in the future. Alayna and Jillian made it simple and easy for me, and I highly recommended them and the DuPont Law Group if you are in the search to get your estate planning done!

What Is Estate Planning?

Estate planning is the process of taking control over what happens to your assets when you pass away. Your probate estate includes any money or property you own. For example, your car, house, bank accounts, and household items are all part of your probate estate. However, your broader estate needs to be planned for as well. This includes your retirement plans, life insurance, and certain investments.

A sound estate plan includes documents that help prevent you and your family from being exposed to unnecessary taxes, unnecessary administrative expenses, delay, and uncertainty.

Can I Create an Estate Plan Myself?

Many people attempt to draft these documents themselves. While some simple estate plans can be done this way, you risk using incorrect legal terminology and missing certain legal nuances. This can leave your true wishes and desires unclear and can have a disastrous effect on your estate. An unclear estate plan can lead to family disputes and ultimately to a potential will contest. This legal process can quickly eat away at your estate, leaving little money for your heirs.

It’s important to have a professional draft and review your estate planning documents to make sure that your wishes are clear.
